ZOAGN gets approval for $100m milk powder plant
New Zealand-based dairy development group ZOAGN has received the Waikato Regional Council's approval for its $100m milk powder plant in Waikato.
The council has approved a resource application for the company's milk powder plant on the eastern side of Arapuni village in south Waikato, reported Radio New Zealand News.
ZOAGN director Richard Stapel said the plant will produce a range of products, from whole milk powder to infant formula for export to China, Southeast Asia, Chile and Saudi Arabia, and will require nearly 90 milk suppliers to support its operation.
With the new approval, the company will monitor the air emissions, wastewater, groundwater and soil quality around the plant, and provide regular monitoring reports to the regional council.
Recently, Waikato Regional Council granted a resource consent for another milk-drying plant to be built near Tokoroa.
